Best Rooftop Bars in Nice with a Sea View (Summer 2026)

Best Rooftop Bars in Nice with a Sea View (Summer 2026)

Updated May 2026 — the actual list, not a sponsored top 10.

Nice has maybe five real rooftop bars with a sea view worth your evening. The other 20 that show up on TripAdvisor lists are hotel terraces with no view or cocktail bars with a roof that just happens to be open. Here is the honest list, by someone who drinks at them.

Le Plongeoir

Not a rooftop technically — it's built on a former diving platform over the rocks. But it gives you the most dramatic sea view of any drink spot in Nice. Sunset here is a memory you'll keep. Cocktails €15+, worth doing once. Reservation recommended in summer.

Hôtel Aston La Scala Rooftop

Central, panoramic. You see the city, the bay, the colline du Château, all in one frame. Cocktails €15-18. The crowd is mixed travelers and locals having an after-work drink. Best for golden hour, around 8-9 PM in summer.

Hyatt Regency Palais de la Méditerranée Rooftop

The view alone justifies the markup. You're elevated above the Promenade des Anglais with the entire bay laid out below. Cocktails €17-20 — yes, that's hotel rooftop pricing, but the view is the product. Stylish crowd, dress code applies.

Le Méridien Rooftop & Pool Bar

Pool by day, bar by night, sea view both. One of the more relaxed luxury rooftops in town. Worth it for a long Spritz session at sunset.

La Chapa Terrace

Not a rooftop — ground floor on the seafront — but mentioned here because it offers the cheapest front-row sea view drink in Nice. €6-8 for a beer, terrace right on Quai des États-Unis, sunset over the water. This is where our Yellow Pub Crawl starts and it's not by accident.

What to drink at a Nice rooftop

  • Aperol Spritz — the default Riviera apéro, €10-12, hard to mess up
  • Local rosé — a glass of Provençal rosé at €8-10, the right move at golden hour
  • Pastis — the local anise, €6-8, drink it the way locals do (with water)
  • Negroni or Old Fashioned at the more cocktail-focused rooftops

Best time to go

Summer 2026 sunset times in Nice:

  • June: ~9:15 PM
  • July: ~9:10 PM
  • August: ~8:40 PM
  • September: ~7:50 PM

Arrive 45 minutes before sunset to get a table without reservation. After sunset most rooftops empty out as people move to bars and clubs — the trick is to use the rooftop for the first drink, then walk down to Vieux Nice for the rest of the night.

Dress code

Most Nice rooftops are smart casual. No sport shorts, no flip-flops at the more upscale hotels (Hyatt, Méridien, Aston). La Chapa and Le Plongeoir are more relaxed.

How to combine rooftop + nightlife in one night

  1. 7:30 PM — Spritz at Aston La Scala rooftop or Le Plongeoir, watch sunset
  2. 9 PM — Walk down to La Chapa, join the Yellow Pub Crawl
  3. 1 AM — Club with the group

This is the move. Rooftop for the view and the photo. Pub crawl for the night itself. Total cost: €15 rooftop drink + €25 pub crawl = €40 for an entire night out.

One rooftop tip locals know

The Hyatt and Méridien rooftops both have happy hours from 6-8 PM in summer. Drinks are €8-10 instead of €15-18. Show up at 6:30, you save half on every cocktail and you still catch the sunset.
