Updated May 2026 — by the Pub Crawl Nissa team, in Nice every single night.
You arrive in Nice, the sun goes down, and suddenly you realize you have no plan. Most travel guides will hand you a list of three tourist bars and call it a night. This is not that guide.
Here is what people who actually live and party in Nice do when the sun sets. Some of it is loud, some of it is quiet, all of it is real.
1. Watch the sunset from the Promenade des Anglais
Start here. Walk from Place Masséna toward Quai des États-Unis around 8 PM in summer. The sky over the Baie des Anges turns pink and orange. It is the most underrated free thing to do in Nice at night. Grab a drink at La Chapa (73 Quai des États-Unis) and watch the city switch from day to night mode.
2. Climb to Colline du Château at golden hour
The hill above Vieux Nice closes at 8 PM in summer but the viewpoint just before the entrance stays accessible. Best panoramic shot of the city at dusk.
3. Apéro at Cours Saleya
The flower market by day becomes a packed terrace strip after 7 PM. Order a pastis or a glass of rosé and people-watch. This is where most locals start their nights.
4. Eat socca in the street
Socca is the local chickpea pancake. Best eaten standing up, with your fingers, at Chez Pipo or at the Cours Saleya market stand. Cheapest dinner in Nice, most authentic, perfect before a night out.
5. Wander Vieux Nice without a plan
The Old Town is so compact you cannot get lost. Rue Droite, Rue de la Préfecture, Place Rossetti. Every corner has a bar, a gelato shop, a wine cave. Just walk.
6. Late-night gelato at Fenocchio
Place Rossetti, open until midnight in summer. 90+ flavors. Tomato-basil and lavender are the local cult favorites. Everybody ends up here at least once.
7. Join a pub crawl
If you want the fastest way to actually meet people on a Nice night out, this is it. Our Yellow Pub Crawl starts at 9 PM at La Chapa — social vibe, 5 shots, 4 bars, club entry, €25. Our Orange Bar Crawl starts at 9:30 PM at Akathor — party vibe, 4 shots, 3 bars + club. 50 to 100+ travelers join every night in summer. 1300+ verified 5-star reviews.
8. Live music at Shapko Bar
Tiny jazz bar in Vieux Nice, live music almost every night, no cover. The crowd is mixed locals and travelers who actually know the music. Sit at the bar, order a whisky, listen.
9. Drink at a proper Irish pub
Paddy's Irish Pub and Wayne's are both walkable in Vieux Nice. Brits, Aussies, Americans and Irish backpackers all end up at one or the other. Live music several nights a week.
10. Beach club after dark
Castel Plage, Blue Beach, Anjuna Beach in Èze. In summer the beach clubs stay open until 2 AM on weekends. Sunset cocktails turn into a dance floor on the sand. Tuesdays at Les Canailles are an institution.
11. Bar games and shooters at Saint Riquier
The taverne where everyone in our Yellow crawl loosens up. Long wooden tables, board games on every table, the kind of place where you start the night next to strangers and finish it next to friends.
12. Cocktails at Tipsy Bar
Best cocktail list in Vieux Nice. Sit at the bar, ask the bartender to surprise you. Quiet until 11 PM, packed by midnight.
13. Dance at Le Pompéi
The nightclub where our pub crawls end every night. VIP entry, no line. Mix of commercial and house depending on the night. Open until 2 AM.
14. Catch a sunset boat trip
Several operators from the port run 1-2 hour sunset cruises along the Riviera. Around €25-40. Worth it once in your trip, especially if you're traveling as a group.
15. Night walk on the Promenade
The Promenade des Anglais at midnight, on foot, with the sea on one side and the lit-up Negresco on the other. Free, romantic, surprisingly safe.
16. Eat late-night kebabs at Place Massena
The 1 AM tradition. Every traveler ends up here at some point. The kebab places around Masséna stay open until 3 AM.
17. Hit a hidden speakeasy
Le Five and Movida have hidden bar rooms behind the main floor. Ask the bartender. Cocktails are pricier but the experience is worth it once.
18. Watch fireworks during summer events
Bastille Day (14th of July) and the Cannes Festival Pyrotechnie series throughout July-August. Free, the entire bay lights up. See our 14th of July guide for the best viewing spots.
19. Take a midnight swim
The sea is warm enough in July-August to swim at 1 AM. The pebble beaches near the Negresco are unofficial late-night swim spots. Locals do it. Travelers should too.
20. End the night at a rooftop bar
Aston La Scala rooftop or Le Plongeoir on the rocks. Last drink with a sea view, then bed. See our rooftop bars guide.
The shortest answer if you only have one night
9 PM: socca + apéro at Cours Saleya. 10 PM: pub crawl. 1 AM: club. 3 AM: kebab on Place Masséna. Done.
If you want to skip the planning entirely, book the Yellow Pub Crawl or Orange Bar Crawl — €25, free cancellation up to 24h before, and you'll meet 50+ travelers in one night. Book both = 20% off.
